LINK Denmark Rules & Regulations
LINK is a voluntary, non-profit network of women from all over the world who gather through LINK to build a social network. LINK is purely social and informal in nature. Our aim is to aid members in developing their circle of friends and contacts through joint activities and shared interests.
LINK membership is open to any non-Dane wishing to socialize with other international women, using English as the language of communication, or any Dane that has lived abroad or wishes to continue to make international friends and converse in English.
The preferred language at LINK events is English. This is to avoid anyone feeling left out because of a language barrier. Events held in any language other than English (e.g. Danish, Spanish, French, German Conversation etc.) must be clearly stated when advertising the event.
LINK is organized by a Committee of volunteers who fill the following positions:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Membership Secretary
- Activities Coordinator
- Newsletter Editor
- Advertising Coordinator
- Subgroup Coordinator
- Kids Korner Representative
The President, Treasurer and Membership Secretary have the authority and responsibility to access any bank accounts held by LINK on behalf of the Committee. The Treasurer and the Membership Secretary should also have the authority to access Net Bank facilities.
The accounts should be independently reviewed by a third party not involved in the Committee preferably every 2 years.
The AGM should be held during the last week in April. Exisiting members will be notified in the previous month’s newsletter and/or via ad-hoc mail.
Where possible, all vacant Committee positions should be applied for at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) after having been advertised in the previous month’s newsletter.
The standing Committee has the sole responsibility of appointing members to new positions. In order to keep energy high and fresh ideas flowing, the position of President should be for a maximum period of 2 years and all other Committee positions for a maximum of 3 years. There should be a minimum of 12 months break after serving for 3 years. A 2/3 majority of the remaining Committee members can over-ride these limits.
Committee members can be removed from their position with a 2/3 vote of the remaining Committee, or if appropriate, by a majority (½+1) vote of the general membership at the AGM. Committee meetings are generally held monthly in the first week of each month except for July and January when there are no meetings.
Each member is charged an annual membership fee to cover the costs of producing and printing a newsletter as well as general administration costs incurred in the running of the group. Individual events and activities are normally self- funded.
If it is deemed necessary to raise the amount of the annual membership fee, this shall be voted upon by the members at the Annual General Meeting, on the recommendation of the standing Committee. The new membership fee amount must be publicised in the LINK newsletter.
During their term of office serving on the Committee, members are excused from paying a yearly membership fee. Once they are no longer a Committee member, to remain a member of LINK they must pay their yearly membership fee.
To qualify as a Subgroup, the group must fulfil the following criteria: The group should meet regularly once a month and engage in an activity or activities of mutual interest to the group’s members. The Subgroup leader must be a fully paid up member of LINK, and it is expected that the majority of members should also have fully paid memberships with LINK.
The rules and regulations should be ratified by 10% of the general membership at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). All changes to the rules made by the standing Committee must be circulated to the members prior to the Annual General Meeting and voted for at the AGM.
