FT

Dear Members,

It is exciting to look forward to a busy LINK year ahead, and a pleasure to meet many new arrivals in Copenhagen. We are fortunate to have an excellent committee to co-ordinate the group this year. You can see all the committee members on the back page, together with our contact details. Feel free to get in touch if you want to make a comment or come to a committee meeting.

I hope you all enjoyed the summer holidays. We had a good time, and wonderful weather for the Roskilde Music Festival made for a happy son and a mud-free house. How sad that the Duisburg Love Parade Festival tragedy in Germany in July came exactly ten years after a similar disaster at Roskilde.

Can I remind you that September is the time for all our existing members to renew your memberships as soon as possible, to ensure that you continue to receive your Newsletters. We are not sending out Giro forms with the letters this year, as most of you pay electronically and doing so increases the postage costs significantly and unnecessarily. We will of course provide them to anyone who wants them. This autumn, in response to requests at last year’s Annual General Meeting, we will also be asking each of you to indicate whether you would like your contact details included in our new Membership Directory. Thanks to Julia Stanbrook for compiling the Directory.

Those of you who are not new to LINK will be delighted to hear that plans for the LINK 2010 Snow Ball are already well under way. The Odd Fellow Palæet, one of the most beautiful old buildings in Copenhagen, has been booked as our venue for December 11th, and it is sure to be the social highlight of the winter season! We are very grateful to Sue Allingham for organising the ball for us once again this year.

But for now I’m looking forward to the tour of the Glyptoteket Museum organised for us by Emma Raphael of the Activities Team on September 16. It promises to be a very interesting tour.

Please feel free to come to any or all of the activities and events organised – they are there for you!

Best wishes,

Fiona Thomas, LINK President
